Choose the FishView Mini (Ø 13.5 × 18 cm) for tiny ponds, patio ponds and bucket ponds 25–45 cm deep with small fish up to 10 cm. Choose the FishView Standard (Ø 25 × 45 cm) for most garden ponds 45–90 cm deep and fish up to 20 cm, like small koi, goldfish, shubunkin and comets. Not sure? It works like an upside-down glass in water. You fill the dome under water and lift it into place: negative pressure keeps the water inside, above the pond surface. Fish swim in and out through the open bottom and rise above the water line. No pump, no electricity and no moving parts.
Yes. FishView is made from durable, aquarium-safe materials with smooth edges, and the dome is plexiglass instead of glass, so it doesn’t break. The bottom is always open, so fish can swim in and out whenever they want. If you have frogs in your pond, leave a small air bubble at the top of the dome so a frog can breathe if it swims in.
It’s likely a mix of factors. The water inside the dome warms up a little in the sun, which fish often like, and fish are naturally curious, so they enjoy exploring and watching their surroundings from a new spot.
Most fish start exploring within a few hours to a few days. You can help them by putting a little food inside the dome, placing it in a sunny (warmer) spot and not moving it around too often. Shy fish and koi sometimes take a bit longer, but curiosity usually wins.
It takes about 5 minutes: set the legs to the depth of your pond, place the base on the bottom and check it with the bubble level, then fill the dome under water and lift it onto the base. You’ll find step-by-step instructions in our user guide and installation video.
We recommend cleaning FishView every 1–2 months, depending on algae growth, sunlight and water quality. A quick wipe with a soft cloth or sponge is usually enough to keep it crystal clear.
FishView is made for water above 0°C. Take it out before your pond freezes and store it dry until spring, so ice can’t damage the dome.
A clear plexiglass dome, a polycarbonate base, three adjustable aluminium legs, three rubber feet, a bubble level and an underwater light (a waterproof solar lamp with the Standard, a small waterproof LED light with the Mini), plus a printed installation guide.
